Track Layout - Manipulating Track
Introduction
This section explains how to manipulate existing track segments: selecting, copying, moving, rotating, etc.
Selecting Track Segments
You can select a track segment by clicking on it with your mouse. The selected segment is outlined in blue.
You can select multiple segments my holding the Ctrl key while clicking on them. If you click on a segment that is already part of the selection, it will be removed from the selection.
You draw a selection box by holding the Shift key while dragging the mouse in the track layout. All the segments that are in the selection box will be added to the selection.
To remove the current selection, release the Ctrl and/or Shift key and click on a spot in the track layout where there is no track segment.
Moving Track Segments
Start by selecting the track segments that you want to move. Release the Ctrl and/or Shift key, place the mouse over one of the selected track segments and drag the segments to where you want to place them.
Duplicating Track Segments
Select the track segments that you want to duplicate and press the D key. A copy of the selected segments will appear on the track layout. The new segments are selected so you can drag them to where you want to place them.
Deleting Track Segments
Select the track segments that you want to Delete and press the Del key.
Rotating Track Segments
Select the track segments that you want to rotate. Press the O key; a round blue marker will appear in the segment selection. This marker indicates the origin of the rotation operation. You can change the origin by moving the mouse, it will snap to the closed connection point within the segment selection. Press the R key to rotate the selected track segments, each time the press the R key the tracks are rotated 22.5°.
Grouping Track Segments
You group a set of track segments by selecting them and then pressing the G key. Grouped segments will act like one single segments when you selected them. Nested groups are not supported, i.e. you cannot group a segment selection that contains segments that are already grouped.
You can exploded a group to individual segments by selecting it and pressing the E key.
Merging Nodes
Track segments are defined using the connection nodes, they are indicated by a green dot. Certain manipulations can lead to superimposed nodes, this results adjacent segments that are not connected. You can connect the segments by merging the superposed nodes. To do so, press the M key.
