2.04.017 - Decoupler Track
Introduction
Track 2.04.014 is designed to decouple cars from LEGO&ref; trains. When the decoupler is open the cars can pass; when it's closed the claws of the decoupler block the wheels of the first car and the train leaves without the cars.
  • Length: 8 studs
  • Width: 15 studs
  • Height: 1 brick & 2 plates
Decoupler
Description
The decoupler track is designed to decouple cars from LEGO® trains. When the decoupler is open the cars can pass; when it's closed the claws of the decoupler block the wheels of the first car and the train leaves without the cars.

The decoupler track is fully compatible with the PF track system. It has a servo motor to actuate the claws. It also has an integrated sensor that can detect the magnets of the train couplings. This allows you to check whether the train is positioned correctly on the decoupler.

The decoupler motor can be controlled with a Quad Switch Controller or a motor port of a Starter Controller. The sensor needs to be connected to a Quad Sensor Controller or the sensor port a Starter Controller. Our free nControl™ train automation software provides a user friendly interface to use the decoupler.

You can also control the decoupler with your own Arduino® based control system.

The decoupler also has a mechanical safety to make sure the motor is not damaged when the trains wheels block the claw when the decoupler is being closed. The integrated sensor should help you to prevent this by providing real time feedback on the positioning of the train.

Dimensions
The decoupler track is 8 studs long, so you might need a half straight track to fit it into your layout. The motor extends 6 studs beyond the edge of the tracks. On the other side it extends 1 stud beyond the standard track.

The integrated servo motor gives the decoupler a small footprint and allows to use multiple decouplers in a standard rail yard.
